The 'Walking Bridge' project is a suspension bridge and natural pool design exercise for a local landholder in the Tochigi prefecture of Japan. The premise behind the design, is to provide temporary shelter to hikers along a known trail. The brief was to provide small follies, covered shelters, along the banks of the river, and to provide a simple suspension bridge to aid crossing. The structures were to be simple platforms with pitched roof's, allowing for shade and rest along the natural river.
