Design led architecture
Chalmers Partners Architects is a Brisbane-based architecture and design studio led by Luke Chalmers.
Our practice works with private clients, developers, and commercial operators across Brisbane, Inner North Brisbane, and South East Queensland, including projects in Wilston, New Farm, Paddington, Mitchelton, and surrounding suburbs. Our work extends through South East Asia and into Japan. We understand Queensland planning controls, climate-responsive design, and local construction methods, allowing us to deliver efficient approvals and well-resolved built outcomes.
Drawing on a background in Japanese architecture and Queensland sensibility, the practice focuses on architectural solutions that are both economical and highly practical. The combination of light and shadow, simple process, an understanding of residential built form and spatial use, combines to build the studio’s refined, contemporary aesthetic.

Residential
Our residential work is based on contemporary architecture that is rooted in both functional clarity and elegant spatial experiences. We deliver tailored design solutions across new homes, residential renovations, and environmentally conscious living environments, emphasising a strong connection between interior spaces, natural light, and the subtropical Queensland climate.
At the core of our residential work is a commitment to context-responsive design — interpreting each site’s conditions, site constraints, and client lifestyle needs into built form.
Chalmers Partners’ residential portfolio often balances practical spatial planning with refined materiality, crafting homes that feel spacious yet grounded. Their projects typically focus on maximizing natural light, enhancing ventilation, and creating a sense of openness while maintaining privacy for everyday family life.

Our high-density residential projects, balance architectural quality with commercial clarity. Our work focuses on efficient planning, strong contextual response, and livable, light-filled solutions that perform within complex urban and planning environments. The result is practical, buildable projects that contributes positively to the city and that deliver long-term value.
Commercial
Our commercial architecture is focused across hotels, food and beverage venues, bars, breweries, office fitouts, and retail environments. Our work balances brand expression, operational efficiency, and buildability — creating spaces that support how businesses function while offering engaging, memorable experiences for users and customers.
Each project is shaped by a clear understanding of workflow, compliance, and commercial constraints, combined with a refined approach to materiality, lighting, and spatial planning. The result is adaptable, well-resolved commercial spaces that enhance identity, support growth, and perform over time.
furniture design & interior architecture
CPA delivers interior design as an integrated extension of our architectural practice, creating cohesive, well-resolved environments that balance spatial clarity, material refinement, and everyday functionality. Our approach is design-led and detail-driven, shaping interiors that are intrinsically connected to the architecture rather than treated as a separate layer. From residential spaces to commercial fit-outs, we focus on spatial planning, materiality, lighting, bespoke joinery, and furniture selection to support how people live, work, and interact with a space. Working closely with clients, consultants, and builders, our small, senior-led team ensures continuity from concept through to completion, resulting in interiors that are considered, practical, and enduring.
Our furniture design is driven by the same clarity and rigor as our architecture — balancing form, function, and longevity. We design custom furniture and joinery that responds directly to its context, whether for hospitality, workplace, retail, or residential environments.
Each piece is informed by use, ergonomics, and fabrication, combined with a refined approach to materiality, proportion, and detailing. The result is considered, adaptable furniture that reinforces spatial identity, supports daily use, and is designed to be timeless.
